Job summary

Barnes is seeking an experienced aerospace inspector for a second-shift role. You will perform final inspection of finished engine parts, verify features with gauges and CMMs, and ensure compliance with customer specifications. Strong reading of blueprints and GD&T knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of inspection experience in aerospace or general manufacturing.
  • Experience reading drawings, blueprints, repair manuals, and customer specifications.
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and measurement tools.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with CMMs using PCDMIS or MODUS is desirable.
  • Experience inspecting turbine engine components is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final inspection of finished aerospace engine parts.
  • Measure features and holes and determine acceptance to customer requirements.
  • Use required gauges and measuring equipment for inspection.
  • Interpret operation sheets and blueprints to meet customer criteria.
  • Ensure all parts meet acceptance criteria.
  • Complete required paperwork if a part is defective or needs re-work.

Job description

  • 2+ years of inspection experience in an aerospace or general manufacturing environment is a plus
  • Previous experience performing dimensional and visual inspection in an aerospace environment
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, blueprints, repair manuals, and customer specifications
  • Must have working knowledge of geometric tolerancing, gages, micrometers, borescopes and other measuring tools
  • A strong background in manufacturing and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is required
  • Proficiency in operating CMMs using PCDMIS and/ or MODUS software (highly desirable)
  • Previous experience performing incoming, in process, or final inspections in a turbine engine repair environment (highly desirable)
  • Final inspection of finished aerospace engine parts and components
  • Measure various features and holes on part or component and determine if the part is acceptable to customer requirements
  • Inspection includes visual and dimensional using requited gaging and measuring equipment
  • Interpret operation sheets and blueprints meet customer criteria for an acceptable part
  • Ensure that all parts being inspected meet criteria for an acceptable part
  • If a part is defective or needs re-work, Inspector must complete required paperwork associated with this task
