Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a quality inspector to perform BIQ gate inspections, document defects, and contain nonconforming material. You will record results in quality systems and support problem solving, using precision gauges to verify specifications and ensuring a safe work environment.

Success requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work varied shifts in a temperature-fluctuating manufacturing setting. This is an on-site role at East Peoria, IL.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections at BIQ quality gates using inspection methods, gauges and checklists
• Identify, document and communicate product defects and nonconformances
• Contain defective material and prevent movement to next operation or customer
• Record defect information and inspection results in quality systems
• Support BIQ processes including Stop Capability, Problem Description, Sorting, Feedback and Problem Solving
• Use precision measurement equipment to verify engineering specifications
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
