Job summary

SMS group is seeking an Inspector to provide quality review and inspection for daily work in process across the plant, following sketches, drawings, travelers and procedures under supervision.

You will measure roll diameters and lengths with micrometers, compare to mechanical drawings, transport rolls with cranes, and prepare rolls for shipping; knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949 is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School/Equivalent required.
• Ability to read micrometers, calipers, tape measures and other instrumentation.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Experience in industrial/machining environment preferred.

What You’ll Do

• Measure roll diameters and lengths using micrometers
• Comparing mechanical drawings against actual measurements
• Transporting rolls using cranes and forklifts
• Prepare rolls for shipping
• Have knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 or other quality management system (preferred but not required)
• Be a safety minded worker who is drug free, dependable and able to maintain an excellent attendance record

What You’ll Need

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Drug Screen, Physical Capacity Profile Test and Background Check
• Education: High School/Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License Required
• One year of experience preferred, but not required
• Prior experience in an industrial/manufacturing/machining environment preferred
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence
• Ability to read micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and other instrumentation as required
• Excellent vision
• Ability to be trained and operate overhead remote crane and Hilo
