Job summary

Sms Group Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform quality reviews and inspections across daily work in process. This onsite role in Taylor, MI focuses on measurements, documentation, and adherence to established procedures under supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma, ability to read micrometers, and a safety-minded attitude. Experience in manufacturing is preferred, with drug screening and background checks required as part of employment.

Quality Inspector

Salary Range: $22.77 To $22.77 Hourly

Summary

SMS group is looking for an Inspector whose primary function is providing Quality review and Inspection for all daily work in process throughout the plant, working from sketches, drawings, travelers, established procedures and directions from Supervisors.

• Measure roll diameters and lengths using micrometers
• Comparing mechanical drawings against actual measurements
• Transporting rolls using cranes and forklifts
• Prepare rolls for shipping
• Have knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 or other quality management system (preferred but not required)
• Be a safety minded worker who is drug free, dependable and able to maintain an excellent attendance record

What you'll need

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Drug Screen, Physical Capacity Profile Test and Background Check
• Education: High School/Equivalent
• Valid Driver's License Required
• One year of experience preferred, but not required
• Prior experience in an industrial/manufacturing/machining environment preferred
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence
• Ability to read micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and other instrumentation as required
• Ability to be trained and operate overhead remote crane and Hilo
