Job summary

Kearfott Corporation in Black Mountain, NC is seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to perform advanced inspections and support measurement activities across incoming, in-process, and final areas. The role requires reading complex blueprints, GD&T, and performing CMM-based validation with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible quality inspection, metrology, calibration, manufacturing quality, or related technical experience.
• Proficiency with manual inspection equipment and at least one advanced specialty such as CMM, automated/vision inspection, gage calibration/metrology, FAI, or customer coordination.
• Experience using Microsoft Office tools and ERP/QMS systems to document results and communicate across functions.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot, and mentor others; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced inspection, test, and measurement across multiple quality areas.
• Support complex or urgent work, prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision.
• Use CMM, optical/vision, Keyence or equivalent for measurement and method validation.
• Support various inspections including FAI, first article, and final inspections per drawings and GD&T.
• Maintain gage calibration and coordinate to ensure equipment availability.
• Analyze inspection data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Operations, and others to resolve nonconformities and root cause issues.
• Mentor and cross-train inspectors; help improve team efficiency and capabilities.
