Job summary

Kearfott Corporation in Black Mountain, NC is seeking a QA Engineering Tech I to support advanced inspection, metrology, calibration, automation, and process activities across Quality areas. You will work from drawings, troubleshoot issues, and help improve inspection methods and efficiency.

The role requires at least 5 years of quality inspection experience, ability to read complex drawings, and proficiency with CMM/vision systems.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
• Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible quality inspection or related technical experience.
• Proficiency with manual inspection equipment and at least one advanced specialty (CMM, vision inspection, gage calibration/metrology, FAI).
• Experience with MS Office and ERP/QMS systems for daily work and data communication.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and train others.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced inspection, test, and measurement across multiple Quality areas.
• Support complex or urgent work with limited supervision and priorities.
• Use manual and automated inspection equipment including CMM or vision systems.
• Assist first article, final, and special inspections interpreting drawings and GD&T.
• Support gage control, calibration, and maintenance of measurement equipment.
• Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and other departments to resolve nonconformities and drive corrective actions.
• Mentor inspectors and help strengthen team capabilities.
