Job summary

HDT in Geneva Township, Ohio, is seeking a quality inspector to perform detailed conformance inspections of products and components. You will document inspection results, identify nonconformances, and help ensure adherence to ISO 9001 quality standards.

The role involves working with ERP systems, including SAP, and may require overtime. Strong attention to detail and effective communication are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 1–2 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Experience using inspection equipment like calipers and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of First Article/First Piece inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; self-directed work style.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines; overtime as needed.
  • Proficient with standard business software and ERP systems; SAP desired.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection activities to assess conformance to design documents.
  • Inspects products and components for compliance with requirements.
  • Records inspection data into ERP or inspection plans.
  • Identifies nonconforming conditions at system or subsystem level.
  • Identifies units needing repair and marks them unusable.
  • Adheres to quality and safety standards.
  • Supports other projects and duties as assigned.
  • May specialize in receiving, in-process, process verification/auditing, final inspection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design as defined by engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, quality specifications/quality plan.
  • Inspects products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to ensure conformance to requirements.
  • Records data of inspections into ERP or inspection plans.
  • Identifies nonconforming conditions that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assembly.
  • Identifies units in need of repair and ensures they are segregated and deemed unusable.
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards.
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
  • May specialize in receiving inspection, in-process inspection, process verification/auditing, final inspection and other areas as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • High school diploma
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics
  • Experience in the use of inspection equipment including but not limited to calipers, micrometers and height gages
  • Experience in First Article and First Piece inspection process
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Abilty to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, willing to work overtime when necessary
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with employees
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Experience in ERP systems, SAP desired
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Work is accomplished in a moderately clean plant environment. The production floor does not have a cooling system. The sound level in the work environment may fluctuate due to noises associated with manufacturing processes. Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil and/or fumes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee alternates between sitting and standing/walking for long periods of time
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required per plant rules
