Job summary

Cedar House Life Change Center in California is seeking a Quality Improvement Specialist to conduct reviews across intake, treatment, and discharge. You will track trends, update regulatory standards, and support county audits while ensuring confidentiality and high ethical standards.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, staff training, and collaboration with diverse teams to improve client outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Have at least 2 years of experience working in alcohol/drug treatment.
  • KIPU experience preferred.
  • Quality Improvement experience preferred.
  • Be registered upon hire under an accredited drug and alcohol certification program (CAADE/CADTP/CCAPP) required.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Quality Improvement Supervisor, conduct Quality Improvement Reviews for all programs at intake, during treatment, and at discharge.
  • Track trends of re-occurring compliance issues and report them to the Quality Improvement Coordinator.
  • Keeps up to date on regulatory and licensing standards by program requirements; identifies changes and new requirements.
  • Attend compliance and/or quality assurance meetings at the county.
  • Maintain timely and reliable attendance.
  • Assists in developing and revising policies and procedures by regulatory and licensing requirements
  • Assist as necessary with stakeholder audits
  • Assist in compliance and revising tools, policies, and procedures to assist with compliance with quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide quality service to clients as required by Cedar House Life Change Center, State, and County Requirements.
  • Perform life-saving measures when needed to protect the lives of Cedar House clients and employees.
  • Consistently applies trauma-responsive practices to promote safety, trust, and healing.
  • Required to train or assist in the trainings of co-workers as needed.
  • Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Salary range for this position is $24.50 - $32.50 / Hour.

DUTY STATEMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
  • Have at least 2 years of experience working in alcohol/drug treatment.
  • KIPU experience (preferred)
  • Quality Improvement experience (preferred)
  • Be certified upon hire under an accredited drug and alcohol certification program, CAADE, CADTP, or CCAPP (preferred).
  • Be registered upon hire under an accredited drug and alcohol certification program, CAADE, CADTP, or CCAPP (required).
Education:
  • Completed twelve years of education or have a GED.
  • Complete continuing education and trainings as required by Cedar House, County, and State mandates.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid/AED.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Have a thorough understanding of the nature of alcohol/drug addiction and its recovery process
  • Knowledge of state, county, and CARF substance use disorder treatment facility standards.
  • Resourcefulness, creativity, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to address stressful situations in a calm manner and be able to communicate in a positive way.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time. They will also need to move around inside the office occasionally to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. The employee must be capable of operating a computer and other office productivity machinery. There may be occasions where the employee needs to climb up or down a ladder or equipment and position themselves to maintain files in file cabinets. It is essential for the employee to communicate information and ideas clearly so that others can understand. They must also be able to provide accurate information in these situations. The employee should be able to observe details at close range and occasionally move boxes weighing up to 20 pounds for various reasons. Additionally, the employee may need to work around or be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
