Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Jersey City Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Quality Coordinator to support the Quality Director and hospital-wide teams in performance improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. You will help develop, monitor, and evaluate quality initiatives and collaborate with clinical and leadership teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Advanced Practice Nursing (APN), PA, or related clinical/healthcare discipline.
• Master's degree in healthcare-related profession preferred.
• Current clinical professional licensure appropriate to the individual's discipline.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an acute care setting.
• National certification in Healthcare Quality and prior healthcare quality experience preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare quality management, performance improvement, clinical outcomes, and patient safety principles.
• Knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including DMAIC, research methodology, statistical analysis, and quality reporting.
• Knowledge of DNV and/or Joint Commission standards and guidelines.
• Strong understanding of clinical care processes, outcomes, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.”
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and present quality and performance data.
• Ability to develop clear and effective reports and presentations for physicians, clinical staff, operations teams, committees, senior leadership, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to effectively facilitate meetings, lead interdisciplinary work groups, and coordinate quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and coordinating work groups involved in performance improvement and quality management initiatives.
• Facilitating Quality Improvement Teams, committees, and other performance improvement meetings as required.
• Participating in the review, development, and implementation of Quality policies and procedures.
• Preparing for and participating in internal audits and regulatory surveys guided by DNV, Joint Commission, State, and Federal requirements, organizational policies, and best-practice models.
• Serving as a team member during regulatory visits and supporting the organization in achieving successful survey outcomes.
• Ensuring timely, accurate, and complete reporting of quality metrics and key performance indicators.
• Collecting, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting quality and performance data to identify trends, variances, opportunities for improvement, and expected versus actual outcomes.
• Supporting the implementation of initiatives designed to improve clinical quality, patient safety, operational performance, and other quality outcomes in collaboration with the Quality Director.
• Advocating for and facilitating performance improvement using DMAIC and other recognized process improvement methodologies.
• Developing reports and presentations communicating quality metrics, variances, trends, and improvement opportunities to physicians, clinical and operational teams, committees, senior leadership, and staff.
• Supporting High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives through interviews, data collection, and causal analysis related to adverse events and opportunities for improvement.
• Participating as a key member of the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA) processes to facilitate event review, identify contributing factors, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
• Reviewing clinical events through medical record review and providing analysis to support documentation improvements, clinical discussions, performance improvement, and staff education.
• Leading and coordinating Internal Audit teams across the hospital to assess compliance with established policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
• Serving as a resource to hospital staff regarding quality management, performance improvement principles, data analysis, and process improvement techniques.
• Collaborating with appropriate personnel and departments to communicate quality information, share best practices, and support organization-wide improvement efforts.
• Providing Quality Improvement education during hospital-wide orientation and other educational programs as appropriate.
• Participating in Quality Management Steering, Clinical Improvement, and other organizational committees as assigned.
• Supporting strategic planning activities and organizational events, including Strategic Planning retreats.
• Planning, organizing, and leading data collection activities to support quality improvement initiatives and performance measurement.
• Entering, monitoring, validating, and maintaining key performance indicators and other quality-related data.
• Promoting a culture of patient safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and high reliability throughout the organization.
• Demonstrating strong communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and facilitation skills when working with interdisciplinary teams.
• Completing assigned quality and performance improvement activities accurately and within established timelines.
