Job summary

RTX is seeking a Quality Engineer intern to learn the Quality interface and drive performance improvements. You will work across functions to support rapid issue closure and ensure compliance with customer and contract requirements.

You will perform root cause analyses, interpret trends, and coordinate with suppliers and customers to resolve nonconformances, while gaining exposure to Lean and Agile practices in a defense–oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a STEM field and enrolled/available for internship or co-op.
  • Minimum 60 credit hours by start of internship/co-op.
  • Experience with Quality/Mission Assurance processes and tools.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain DoD clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

This internship program is designed to empower growth by exploring the dynamic nature of the defense industry throughout Raytheon Operations, Supply Chain & Quality (OSCQ). Throughout the summer, you will be able to expand your knowledge of OSCQ while also gaining unprecedented exposure to leadership along the way.

What you will do

As a Quality Engineer intern, you will acquire an understanding of what is required to be the Quality interface and drive overall quality performance including continuous improvement and implementation of lean/agile methodologies. You will help to ensure programs meet customer objectives by working closely with other functions to support rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communication skills. You will work in a results-based culture with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

What You Will Learn
  • Participation in root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action solutions
  • Analyze and interpret trends
  • Ensure flow down and compliance to Raytheon and contract program requirements, both internally and to external suppliers
  • Interface with Raytheon's supplier base to resolve any open issues
  • Review and disposition nonconformances and nonconforming material
  • Interface with customers and DCMA to ensure compliance and resolution of any reported issues
  • Review major deliverables to ensure contract compliance prior to delivery to customer. Includes reviewing major deviations and waivers, acceptance test results and all major anomaly conditions
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering or closely related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Education/Experience with Quality and Mission Assurance processes and tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience with Quality and Mission Assurance processes
  • Experience/Education in continuous improvement processes such as the RTX CORE Operating System, Six Sigma and/or Lean Methodologies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
