Cleveland-Cliffs in Butler, PA invites you to join as a Quality Engineering Intern. You will support the Metallurgical Department with lab testing, safety audits, data analysis, and process improvements while learning from industry leaders.

This internship provides exposure to steelmaking operations and a path toward future full-time employment. As an intern, you will handle safety, calibrations, and testing workflow, gain hands-on experience in lab management, and contribute to efficiency

Qualifications

• Enrollment in BS program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related field.
• Completion of at least sophomore year by summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Work safely and assure plant safety policies are followed.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create new operating efficiencies to maintain the production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Responsible for data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Responsible for Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspection.
• Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
• Responsible for Metallurgical investigations.
