Job summary

Thomas Built Buses, Inc. is offering a Quality Engineering Intern position to gain hands-on experience in quality systems and manufacturing processes at a heavy-duty truck facility. You will support defect investigations, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to drive product reliability and customer satisfaction.

The internship runs across multiple DTNA locations with summer start, onsite work, and potential transition to full-time based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related).
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Able to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing warranty, defect, and manufacturing data to identify trends and root causes.
• Support investigations into quality issues, including nonconformances and production defects.
• Participate in root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
• Help develop and update quality documentation, including work instructions and PFMEAs.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support corrective actions.
• Assist with internal audits and ISO 9001 compliance.
• Support continuous improvement projects to reduce defects and improve process capability.
