Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a motivated Quality Engineering Summer Intern to join our manufacturing team. You will analyze production data, investigate defects, and drive improvements for product reliability and customer satisfaction.

The role offers hands-on experience with quality systems and manufacturing processes, with potential to transition to a full-time role based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or graduated within 1 year of start date (May/June).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret data and identify trends using Excel or similar tools.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Analyze warranty, defect, and manufacturing data to identify trends and root causes.
• Support investigations into quality issues including nonconformances and production defects.
• Conduct root cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis.
• Develop and update quality documentation (work instructions, control plans, PFMEAs).
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support corrective actions.
• Assist with internal audits and ISO 9001 compliance.
• Support continuous improvement projects to reduce defects and improve process capability.
• Compile reports and present findings to quality and plant leadership.
• Participate in shop floor activities to understand production processes and quality checkpoints.
• Foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.
