Daimler Truck North America LLC. is seeking a motivated Quality Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing team across multiple U.S. locations, including Detroit, MI.

The role provides hands-on experience in quality systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will support quality engineers in analyzing production data, investigating defects, and helping drive improvements to ensure product reliability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or have recently graduated within 1 year.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality principles.

Responsibilities

• Analyze warranty, defect, and manufacturing data to identify trends and root causes.
• Assist with investigations into quality issues, including nonconformances and production defects.
• Perform root cause analysis using 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis.
• Help develop and update quality documentation (work instructions, control plans, PFMEAs).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist with internal audits and ISO 9001 compliance.
• Support continuous improvement projects to reduce defects and improve process capability.
• Compile reports and present findings to quality and plant leadership.
• Participate in shop floor activities to understand production processes and quality checkpoints.
• Foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture.
