Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Middletown, OH is seeking a Quality Engineering Intern to support safety inspections, lab workflow, and metallurgical testing. You will help manage calibrations, data-mining investigations, and 3rd‑party inspections, while enabling leaner production and reliable test results.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a BS program in a related technical field such as Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Chemistry.
• Completion of at least sophomore year by summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Work safely and assure plant safety policies are followed.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create new operating efficiencies to maintain production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Responsible for data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Responsible for Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspection.
• Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
• Responsible for Metallurgical investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or other related technical degree
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027
