Job summary

Moog is seeking a Quality Engineer (manufacturing) for Moog Military Aircraft, onsite in Torrance, CA. The role involves planning, implementing and administering cost-effective Quality Programs to meet contractual quality requirements and protect Moog and its customers.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3+ years in engineering or manufacturing, plus 2+ years in quality engineering in manufacturing; aerospace experience and AS9100 knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 3+ years of professional work experience in Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of Quality Engineering work experience in manufacturing.
  • Preferred: AS9100 knowledge and aerospace quality experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure integrity and promote a culture that communicates issues openly and addresses problems promptly.
  • Collaborate on program teams to meet contractual requirements and drive quality-related decisions for customers.
  • Act as liaison for Government (FAA and DCMA) initiatives, audits and requirements.
  • Support production with QE studies, design changes, and quality support for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Conduct failure analysis, root-cause and corrective action analyses, and risk mitigation.

Job Details

Job Title: Quality Engineer

Reporting To: Quality Engineering Manager

Work Schedule: Onsite - Torrance, CA (9/80 schedule option available)

Reporting to our Assembly & Test Quality Manager, the role involves planning, implementing and administering cost-effective Quality Programs to meet or exceed contractual quality requirements and protect Moog and its customers. The ideal candidate will drive the highest standards of quality for complex hardware.

About Moog

Moog\'s Military Aircraft Group designs primary and secondary flight control actuation systems (FCAS) for military aircraft and works on programs such as the F-35 Lightning II and the V280 Valor. Moog is headquartered in East Aurora, NY, and employs thousands of people across multiple countries.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering
  • 3+ years of professional work experience in Engineering or Manufacturing
  • 2+ years of Quality Engineering work experience in manufacturing

Preferred

  • 3+ years of Quality Engineering experience in the Aerospace industry
  • Experience with AS9100 standards
  • Proficiency with statistical, spreadsheet, word processing, and database software
  • Experience supporting government and customer audits
  • Specialized knowledge of mechanical, electro-mechanical, hydro-mechanical components and manufacturing assembly, and functional test methods
  • Ability to support quality issues to drive program success and communicate confidently with customers
  • ASQ certification is a plus
Role Responsibilities
  • Ensure integrity and promote a culture that communicates issues openly and addresses problems promptly
  • Collaborate on program teams to meet contractual requirements and drive quality-related decisions for customers such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, and Sikorsky
  • Act as Moog liaison for Government (FAA and DCMA) initiatives, audits and requirements
  • Support production with QE studies, design changes recommendations, and quality support for manufacturing and assembly
  • Conduct failure analysis, root-cause and corrective action analyses, risk mitigation, material reviews, customer and governmental interfaces, configuration control, traceability and audit support
  • Develop Quality plans for receiving inspection, manufacturing operations, assembly & test processes, and final inspection
  • Optimize costs for inspection and prevent costs due to failure through statistical analysis and problem solving

Salary

Torrance, CA: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually

The base salary range represents the range for this position in the listed location. Actual salaries vary based on factors including location, experience, and performance. This range is one component of Moog\'s total compensation; other rewards may include bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, PTO, and region-specific benefits.
