Job summary

Moog Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineering Manager for its East Aurora Military Aircraft Group site in Buffalo, NY.

The role oversees the Quality Engineering function for Electronic Operations, driving product and process quality, building a high-performing team, and ensuring regulatory and customer compliance. You will lead cross-functional quality initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and customers to promote proactive quality practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of engineering, quality, or manufacturing experience in a regulated industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of people leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, statistical methods, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, and other quality improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Quality Engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and achieve quality objectives, including COPQ reduction, nonconformance reduction, and NPI readiness.
  • Partner with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and inspection teams to improve product quality and operational performance.
  • Drive proactive quality initiatives and risk mitigation strategies across operations and the supplier base.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, government, and company quality requirements and policies.
  • Lead investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for quality issues and failures.
  • Provide technical leadership and training in statistics, DOE, and SPC.
  • Develop and maintain inspection and quality control plans aligned with risk.
  • Build relationships with customers, government representatives, and regulatory agencies including FAA.

Our team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Quality Engineering Manager to join them. You’ll report to the Site Electronic Operations Director and will have an onsite schedule in East Aurora, NY.

The Quality Engineering Manager leads the Quality Engineering function for Electronic Operations at Moog's East Aurora Military Aircraft Group site. This role is responsible for driving product and process quality, developing a high-performing team, ensuring regulatory and customer compliance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Working closely with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and customer representatives, the Quality Engineering Manager champions proactive quality practices that promote safety, open dialog and transparency, lean principles, Moog values and engagement throughout the company.

As Quality Engineering Manager, You Will
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Quality Engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and achieve quality objectives, including Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction, nonconformance reduction, and New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness.
  • Partner with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, and inspection teams to improve product quality and operational performance.
  • Drive proactive quality initiatives and risk mitigation strategies across operations and the supplier base.
  • Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, government, and company quality requirements and policies.
  • Lead investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for significant quality issues and product failures.
  • Provide technical leadership and training in the application of statistical methods, problem-solving tools, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Develop and maintain effective inspection and quality control plans aligned with product and business risk.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, government representatives, and regulatory agencies, including FAA and defense contract stakeholders.
  • Coordinate quality activities across functions and represent Quality in contract reviews, audits, and management reviews.
  • Manage department operating and capital budgets.
To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll typically bring
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of engineering, quality, or manufacturing experience in a regulated industry.
  • Minimum 2 years of people leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, statistical methods, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, and other quality improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success driving quality performance, compliance, and operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with customers, regulatory agencies, and government contract requirements is preferred.

Salary Range Transparency

Buffalo, NY $125,000.00–$175,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
