Quality Engineer: Process Excellence & Metrology Lead

Job summary

SRAM LLC is seeking a Quality Engineer in Indianapolis to improve product quality by partnering with Design, Manufacturing, and other teams. You will identify sources of variation, develop preventative controls, and lead quality processes to reduce cost of poor quality and meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities include defining control plans, auditing processes, and collaborating on metrology needs. Travel and cross-site coordination are required as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of quality engineering experience.
• Experience with structured problem solving (8D, DMAIC, A3).
• Hands-on in creating/updating quality documentation (work instructions, inspection standards).
• Knowledge of Quality System tools (FMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow, Gage R&R, capability studies).
• Metrology experience: creating programs for and running CMMs and laser scanners; CMM experience (PCDMIS, MODUS, Zeiss Inspect).
• Strong GD&T knowledge; collaborative with plant floor operations and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and define process control requirements and measurement systems; create and improve control plans.
• Identify sources of variation that lead to defects and customer complaints using variation reduction tools.
• Collaborate with product development teams to prevent defects prior to production.
• Lead problem solving with all levels using disciplined methods such as 8D.
• Develop sampling plans, quality standards, and control instructions for manufacturing.
• Serve as Internal Auditor; audit quality processes and drive corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Assist in developing global quality processes and standardized work practices.
• Serve as internal consultant for metrology and measurement needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
