Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or quality engineering.
• Quality Engineering in a manufacturing or technical environment.
• Experience with internal and external quality auditing.
• Demonstrated root cause and problem-solving skills applied to technical issues.
• Experience developing and reviewing procedures, work instructions, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or experience in regulated product environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to perform occasional off-shift or weekend coverage and ~5% travel.

Responsibilities

• Apply ISO 9001 quality standards to ensure product compliance and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, including change management for process, product, and equipment modifications.
• Optimize sampling plans and Quality Control (QC) methods; author and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and product specifications.
• Lead root cause investigations and resolve customer complaints, applying structured problem-solving tools to address product and process performance issues.
• Lead and support Performance Excellence (PEx) and Lean improvement projects targeting cost reduction, process optimization, capacity improvement, and complexity reduction.
• Collaborate with Plant Engineering and Division innovation teams on new product qualification, validation, and specification development; conduct internal and external audits and provide technical training as needed.

Role Purpose

Corning is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen quality management systems and drive continuous improvement within an advanced optics manufacturing operation. In this role, you will translate customer and field performance requirements into clear standards, controls, and acceptance criteria — disposition leading audits, investigations, and process improvement initiatives that directly impact product quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply ISO 9001 quality standards to ensure product compliance and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, including change management for process, product, and equipment modifications
• Optimize sampling plans and Quality Control (QC) methods; author and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and product specifications
• Lead root cause investigations and resolve customer complaints, applying structured problem-solving tools to address product and process performance issues
• Lead and support Performance Excellence (PEx) and Lean improvement projects targeting cost reduction, process optimization, capacity improvement, and complexity reduction
• Collaborate with Plant Engineering and Division innovation teams on new product qualification, validation, and specification development; conduct internal and external audits and provide technical training as needed

Experiences/Education - Required

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical degree
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or quality engineering
• Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
• Experience with internal and external quality auditing
• Demonstrated root cause and problem-solving skills applied to technical issues
• Experience developing and reviewing procedures, work instructions, and technical specifications
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or experience in regulated product environments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to perform occasional off-shift or weekend coverage and after-hours conference calls to support project assignments; approximately 5% travel required

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (Performance Excellence (PEx) certification)
• American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent
• American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience leading projects or cross-functional improvement teams
• Proficiency in Minitab or equivalent statistical analysis software
• Background in optics, photonics, or precision manufacturing (e.g., semiconductors, or aerospace)

The range for this position is $80,011.00 - $110,016.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
