Job summary

Corning is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen quality management systems in an advanced optics manufacturing operation. You will translate customer requirements into clear standards, controls, and acceptance criteria, driving audits, investigations, and process improvements that impact product quality and efficiency.

The role requires a BS in Engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing/quality, auditing experience, and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical degree
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, process, or quality engineering
• Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing or technical environment
• Experience with internal and external quality auditing
• Demonstrated root cause and problem-solving skills applied to technical issues
• Experience developing and reviewing procedures, work instructions, and technical specifications
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or experience in regulated product environments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to perform occasional off-shift or weekend coverage and after-hours conference calls; ~5% travel

Responsibilities

• Apply ISO 9001 quality standards to ensure product compliance and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, including change management for process, product, and equipment modifications
• Optimize sampling plans and QC methods; author and review SOPs, work instructions, and product specifications
• Lead root cause investigations and resolve customer complaints using structured problem-solving tools
• Lead and support Performance Excellence (PEx) and Lean improvement projects targeting cost reduction, process optimization, capacity improvement, and complexity reduction
