Job summary

Holtec's Level 1 Quality Engineer supports the implementation and maintenance of quality systems for the SMR project, ensuring compliance with internal standards, project specifications and applicable industry codes.

The role collaborates with the Quality Manager, SMR Project Teams, engineers, managers and suppliers; performs training, audits, supplier oversight, and contributes to corrective actions.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering, preferred in Mechanical, Electrical Civil/Struct. or Industrial Engineering
• AS degree with one year of quality assurance related work
• High school diploma plus three (3) years of quality assurance related work
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as ISO 9001, NQA-1, 10CFR 50 App. B, 10CFR21, and ASME Section III & Section VIII
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and tracking of key quality metrics and reporting to management
• Review purchase orders and incoming material certifications for compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements
• Participate in internal and external audits, surveys and surveillances
• Review of quality records to verify acceptability and compliance
• Support nonconformance investigations and corrective/preventive action processes
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes
• Assist in training personnel on quality processes
• Perform oversight at vendor facilities and SMR construction activities
