Job summary

IFab Corporation in Gastonia, NC seeks a Quality Engineer to ensure metal fabrication processes meet internal and customer quality standards. You will inspect production, drive root cause analysis, develop control plans, and maintain ISO 9001 compliance.

You will lead CAPA programs, support internal and external audits, review PPAP and FMEA documents, and collaborate with engineering to embed quality in design and manufacturing. A 3+ year background in metal fabrication quality is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a quality role within metal fabrication or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of metalworking processes (welding, stamping, machining).
• Familiar with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP.
• Proficient in reading technical drawings and using inspection equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers, blueprints).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain quality control processes for metal stamping, welding, laser cutting, painting (e-coat/powder), CNC machining, and assembly.
• Investigate and resolve quality issues using root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, etc.).
• Create and implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA).
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure quality standards are built into product design and manufacturing processes.
• Perform internal audits and support external audits (ISO, customer, etc.).
• Maintain and analyze quality metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, customer complaints).
• Prepare and review documentation such as PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Work Instructions.
• Participate in new product launches to ensure quality planning is completed.
• Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma).
