Job summary

Materion Corporation in Westford, MA is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Precision Optics and Thin Film Coatings team. You will support the Quality Management System and manufacturing quality, ensuring ISO compliance and customer/regulatory requirements are met.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Program Management and Sales, lead improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma, conduct audits, manage corrective actions, and mentor staff as a backup to the Quality Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of manufacturing quality experience in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 and auditing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
• Lead internal audits, coordinate external audits, and manage corrective actions through closure.
• Support document control, calibration management, change management, and nonconforming material processes.
• Develop and update quality procedures, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Train plant personnel on QMS processes, ISO requirements, and quality standards.
• Prepare QMS metrics and reports on nonconformance trends and system health.
• Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma.
• Assist with root cause investigations and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering during process changes and new product introductions.
