Job summary

Materion in Westford, MA is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the QMS and manufacturing quality functions. You will strengthen ISO/AS9100 compliance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.

You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, and Sales, while also serving as backup to the Quality Manager. The role emphasizes auditing, process control, and aggressive problem solving in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 QMS requirements and internal auditing.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or formal continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency with SPC, GD&T, and structured problem solving tools.
• Experience with documentation control, calibration management, and change management.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the Quality Management System to ensure ISO9001/AS9100 compliance.
• Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methods.
• Support corrective action processes and root cause investigations (8D, 5 Why).
• Prepare and submit AS9100/FPAP validation materials and PPAP documentation.
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering on process changes and new product introductions.
• Provide backup to the Quality Manager and lead cross-functional teams as needed.
