Job summary

Pro-Active Engineering in Wisconsin is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to gain real-world experience in electronics manufacturing quality systems.

You will assist in PCBAs inspections, support failure analysis and root cause investigations, participate in internal and customer audits, and help maintain ISO 9001 documentation while driving continuous improvement. Strong data analysis skills with Pareto and control charts are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Familiarity with PCBAs and SMT/AOI is a plus.
• Basic understanding of ISO 9001 or IPC-A-610 is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; data analysis skills are a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in quality inspections of PCBAs at various stages of production (incoming, in-process, and final)
• Supporting failure analysis and root cause investigations for non-conforming products
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
• Participating in audits (internal and customer) and preparing quality documentation
• Collecting and analyzing production and quality data using tools like Pareto charts, control charts, and FMEAs
• Helping maintain and improve quality management system (QMS) documentation in compliance with ISO 9001
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and process control implementation

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering,, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• Familiarity with PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT, AOI, reflow, X-ray, functional testing, etc.) is a plus
• Basic understanding of quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IPC-A-610 is a plus
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis tools is a plus
