Stewart & Stevenson is Now Hiring Quality Engineer III 10750 Telge Road Houston, TX 77095.

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives for the manufacturing of complex equipment used in oilfield services and power generation. This role is critical in ensuring product reliability, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction in a high-spec, safety-critical environment. This role involves implementing quality, assurance processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with engineering, suppliers, sales, and operations to address and resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems aligned with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards.
  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying advanced statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (SCAR/CAR) for field failures, non-conformances, and customer complaints.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state‑of‑the‑art practices, participating in professional societies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and production teams to ensure quality is built into product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits, ensuring compliance with specifications, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP, and welding/NDE quality programs.
  • Analyze quality data (e.g., NCRs, scrap, rework, warranty claims) and drive continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Develop and maintain inspection and test plans (ITPs), control plans, and quality documentation.
  • Interface with customers and third‑party inspectors during project execution and FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests).
Qualifications
  • Must meet project deadlines and maintain several concurrent tasks working independently with direction from more senior department members.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must be self‑motivated.
  • Must work safely and follow all company processes, core values, and procedures.
  • Interacts and communicates with customers as needed in a professional manner.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME and NACE standards.
  • Able to take direction from senior members within the department and be able to follow tasks with supervision.
  • Must be able to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to complete and maintain certifications and/or safety training.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • 8+ years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the oil and gas or energy generation sectors.
