Job summary

AM General is seeking a seasoned Quality Engineer to establish product quality standards and lead APQP for new production programs. The role emphasizes PFMEA, SPC, MSA, and GD&T within automotive/defense manufacturing. You will mentor teams and drive continuous improvement across quality systems.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering to ensure containment, robust process controls, and effective change management while supporting ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related field required.
• 5+ years in Automotive/Defense/manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency with AIAG core tools: APQP, FMEA, PCP, MSA, SPC.
• Dimensional GD&T knowledge and gauge/calibration experience.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong problem solving and systematic methodology.

Responsibilities

• Establish product quality standards aligned with customer requirements.
• Lead APQP planning and validation for new programs and changes including PFMEAs, PCPs and SPCs.
• Develop quality plans and improve Quality Control loops across Build, Confirm and Audit stages.
• Lead cross-discipline problem solving and Lean Six Sigma initiatives to improve build quality.
• Develop and continuously improve quality procedures, processes, and acceptance criteria.
• Interface with manufacturing, quality, and engineering to drive quality.
• Manage containment for process, supplier, or engineering non-conformances.
• Lead quality functions including dimensional layout, corrosion lab, and gage calibration.
