Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace in Cleveland, OH seeks a Quality Engineer II to lead critical quality initiatives and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. You will drive process improvements across aerospace manufacturing operations and maintain the plant's quality system including dimensional, metallurgical, NDT and traceability.

Responsibilities include audits, corrective actions, APQP and PFMEA contributions, and interface with Engineering to transfer new products to production

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy.
  • At least 3 years of quality engineering experience.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

  • Establish, implement, and maintain the quality management system (AS9100, NADCAP).
  • Review contracts to ensure customer requirements are met in QMS.
  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and final products for conformance.
  • Support quality dock, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and process flow documentation.
  • Lead corrective actions using 5-Why and 8D and drive continual improvement.

About the Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team at Pursuit Aerospace’s Cleveland, Ohio forging operation. This site employs approximately 120 people, generates roughly $60 million in annual revenue, and plays a critical role in producing high-integrity forged components for aerospace applications.

As a Quality Engineer II, you will lead critical quality initiatives, ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and drive process improvements across aerospace manufacturing operations. You will have responsibility for maintaining a product quality and inspection system consistent with the plant’s quality policies and objectives including, but not limited to, dimensional, metallurgical, NDT and part traceability.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system. (AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP)
  • Participate in contract review process to ensure customer requirements can be met and are effectively incorporated in QMS.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials, in-process components, and final products to ensure they meet engineering and customer specifications.
  • Support site needs related to over-inspection, shipment write up, and other Quality dock area functions.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) efforts by contributing to APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and process flow documentation.
  • Lead corrective action projects to ensure effective corrective/preventive actions using tools such as 5-Why and 8D.
  • Participate in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, LEAN, etc.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system and customer requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with customer auditors to facilitate audits, close out audit findings using proper corrective and preventative actions.
  • Review and disposition nonconforming material reports.
  • Prepare and submit customer approval documentation.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
  • Support Chemical Processing as needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy
  • At least 3 years of quality engineering experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Aerospace experience.
  • Experience and training in quality systems including AS9100 and NADCAP
  • Strong proficiency in quality management systems, process validation, and customer specifications.
  • Expertise in conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD, QMS and ERP software.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide junior team members effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams and with customers.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
