Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer I to support programs and drive zero-defect projects. You will help develop and implement quality processes, assist with inspections and non-conformance management, and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

This role focuses on AS9100/NADCAP environments in a dynamic manufacturing setting. Based in Morton, IL, this position requires collaboration with production, engineering, and suppliers to ensure top-tier product quality and delivery

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy, or 4 years aerospace quality engineering experience.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
  • Ability to work with ITAR/EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support documentation, data analysis, and procedure writing.
  • Review orders and drawings to ensure quality requirements.
  • Assist with FAI and manufacturing quality plans.
  • Maintain quality management system and prepare QC documentation.
  • Support CAPA, PFMEA, MSA, and gage R&R activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues.

About the Opportunity:

As a Quality Engineer I, you will provide support to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills. This role also supports the development and implementation of quality processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. As Quality Engineer I you will also assist with inspections, testing, non-conformance management, and documentation.

Responsibilities:
  • Support writing procedure, collecting and analyzing data.
  • Review customer purchase orders, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure quality requirements are understood and properly implemented.
  • Assist with First Article Inspections (FAI) and support manufacturing work instructions and quality plans.
  • Support in implementing and maintaining the quality management system. (AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP)
  • Support the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Support MRB activities including the disposition of non conforming material.
  • Utilize Quality Engineering tools like PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis, and Control Plans to monitor and improve internal processes.
  • Participate in gage R&R studies and other measurement system analysis activities.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify the root causes of quality issues and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist in evaluating supplier performance and quality, supporting supplier audits, and assisting with the development of quality improvement plans.
  • Provide flow down of quality requirements to suppliers and purchasing.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and other departments to resolve quality issues and improve overall product quality.
  • Participate in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, LEAN, etc.
  • Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system and customer requirements.
  • Assist in developing inspection standards and methods and provide technical support to inspection and production teams.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
  • Review travelers/routers for material requirements, special processes, and manufacturability considerations.
  • Participate in cause and corrective action activities.
  • Support supplier and customer quality communication on product or process concern
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgy - OR - in lieu of degree, at least 4 years of aerospace quality engineering experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations .
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of quality engineering experience
  • Understanding of quality principles and methodologies.
  • Experience and training in quality systems including AS9100 and NADCAP
  • Proficiency in quality management systems, process validation, and customer specifications.
  • Experience working with CAD, QMS and ERP software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide junior team members effectively.
