Job summary

Phoenix Defense LLC in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Quality Engineer to partner with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure products meet all specifications and government standards. You will support audits, supplier quality, and continuous improvement initiatives across the quality program.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in engineering or related field, 1–3 years in aerospace manufacturing, and strong statistical analysis and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support cross-functional teams on quality improvement projects and scrap reduction.
• Assist Quality Inspectors to ensure compliance with customer and the QMS requirements.
• Perform Quality Audits and prepare audit reports.
• Analyze quality performance using statistical tools to identify trends and adjust standards.
• Review incoming supplies from vendors for defects and quality.
• Conduct tests to identify quality issues.
• Manage supplier performance and conduct supplier audits.
• Facilitate timely corrective and preventive actions for supplier failures.
• Maintain reports on supplier quality and defect rates.
• Perform root cause analysis for internal and customer non-conformances.
• Assist with failure analysis and disposition as MRB member.
• Assist with scrap performance evaluation and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Quality Engineers work with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain management to assess quality and ensure all products are free from defects and in compliance with engineering and manufacturing specifications and government standards. They work to resolve any quality issues and provide guidance on process enhancements and improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support cross-functional teams in the execution and reporting of quality improvement projects with a focus on overall process improvements, scrap reduction and supplier quality improvement.
• Support Quality Inspectors to ensure products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the customer and the quality management system.
• Perform Quality Audits to determine the effectiveness of the Quality Program and prepare audit reports.
• Analyze quality performance utilizing using statistical and analytical tools and methods data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary.
• Review incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
• Conduct tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
• Manage suppliers' performance and conduct supplier audits.
• Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
• Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
• Perform root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for internal and customer non-conformances.
• Assist disposition process by conducting failure analysis and suggest corrective actions as Material Review Board member.
• Assist with manufacturing scrap performance evaluation and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Excellent communication and liaison skills.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
