Job summary

Aerospace Products seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure aerospace components meet rigorous quality requirements. The role covers product QA, inspection, validation, and ongoing QMS maintenance per AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.

Responsibilities include developing inspection and control plans, performing RCCA/CAPA, and supporting audits while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and supplier networks.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of related experience in aerospace quality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality requirements.
  • Experience with quality tools such as RCCA, FMEA, SPC, and control plans.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturing compliance.
  • Develop inspection and control plans and FAI documentation (AS9102).
  • Lead RCCA/ CAPA for nonconforming products and drive corrective actions.
  • Support audits and maintain an AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS.
  • Track KPIs such as scrap, yield, and customer complaints and report to management.

Job Description

This role ensures that aerospace components meet strict regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements. The position supports both product quality assurance (inspection, validation, and compliance of parts) and Quality Management System (QMS) maintenance and improvement in accordance with standards such as AS9100 and ISO 9001.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure compliance throughout manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement inspection plans, control plans, and First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation (AS9102).
  • Perform or support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA, CAPA) for nonconforming products.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Analyze inspection and test data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Support production floor quality problem-solving and real-time issue resolution.
  • Conduct internal process audits and product audits.
  • Maintain and improve the company’s Quality Management System in compliance with AS9100 / ISO 9001 standards.
  • Develop, update, and control quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Support internal, external, and customer audits; act as a point of contact during audit activities.
  • Track and report key quality metrics (KPIs), including scrap, rework, yield, and customer complaints.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Support supplier quality management, including supplier audits and qualification.
  • Ensure proper document control and configuration management practices are followed.
  • Assist in training employees on quality procedures and best practices.
  • Communicate performance and updates to management as required.
  • Create and/or update various reports and charts as required.
  • Enforce all employee handbook procedures and company rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training.
  • Technical aptitude to understand the equipment, processes and blueprints.
  • Experience working in an AS9100-certified environment preferred.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace quality requirements.
  • Experience with quality tools such as: Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/PFMEA), and Control Plans and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and specifications.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, special processes).
  • Experience with inspection tools and methods (CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with corrective action systems and audit processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with quality and data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Minitab, ERP/MES systems).
