Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure delivered product quality and drive quality controls throughout the lifecycle. You will support customer-facing and internal quality activities and guide junior staff while collaborating with engineering, operations, and supply chain.

You will develop QA plans, define metrics, and help implement corrective actions across projects, ensuring conformance to standards and readiness for product releases.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of DMAIC, FMEA, APQP, SPC, Gage R&R, or lean manufacturing, demonstrated through prior roles or projects.
  • Awareness of quality management system concepts; ISO 9001, AS9100 exposure preferred but not required.
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances; GD&T desirable.
  • Ability to collect and organize data using spreadsheets or basic statistical tools.
  • Familiarity with basic quality testing equipment and inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality assurance and quality control plans.
  • Define and document quality metrics, basic testing methods, and inspection procedures across the product lifecycle.
  • Review manufacturing planning to ensure alignment to quality control points and data collection.
  • Coordinate day-to-day work with Quality Technicians and inspectors to support inspections and data collection.
  • Support basic process capability activities and maintain Inspection and Quality Plans.
  • Verify product acceptance criteria align with customer requirements and coordinate with senior staff as needed.
  • Review customer contracts to understand quality requirements and assist cross functional teams.
  • Provide input to design teams on manufacturability and quality considerations for new product development.
  • Assist in risk assessments by gathering data and documenting potential quality risks.
  • Participate in PRRs and Final Inspection activities, data collection, and documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing engineering specs for quality and reliability requirements.
  • Support APQP activities by maintaining documentation and tracking deliverables.
  • Support internal and supplier audits by collecting evidence and tracking closures.
  • Collect and summarize quality performance data to identify trends for improvement.
