Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Quality Engineer for an automotive manufacturer in New Mexico. You will support customer and supplier quality activities across the manufacturing process and lead root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in automotive quality engineering, strong knowledge of PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, GD&T, and will collaborate closely with engineering and production to reduce defects and launch new products.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Automotive Quality Engineering experience
• Experience within automotive manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and other Automotive Core Tools
• Experience working directly with customers and suppliers
• Ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Support customer and supplier quality activities throughout the manufacturing process.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis using methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, and 5 Why.
• Complete PPAPs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and other Automotive Core Tools documentation.
• Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Perform mechanical inspections utilizing CMMs, optical comparators, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Conduct supplier audits and support customer scorecards.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production to improve manufacturing quality and reduce defects.
• Support new product launches and APQP activities.
• Help mentor Quality Inspectors and Technicians while serving as a technical resource across the plant.

This is a highly visible position that works closely with Production, Engineering, Customers, and Suppliers to ensure products consistently meet customer expectations while driving continuous quality improvements. The ideal candidate enjoys solving manufacturing quality issues, working directly with customers, and implementing long-term corrective actions rather than simply reacting to problems.
