Job summary

JMA Wireless in Syracuse, NY seeks a Quality Engineer to lead APQP/PPAP-driven quality initiatives on new and existing products. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to drive First Pass Yield, reduce nonconformances, and establish scalable quality systems.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in quality engineering with APQP/PPAP ownership, strong statistics skills, and experience implementing IATF-related controls and Lean process mapping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer with ownership of APQP and PPAP.
• Deep experience with APQP, PPAP, Design/Process FMEA, and Control Plans.
• IATF 16949 familiarity preferred.
• Advanced statistics knowledge: SPC, Cpk/Ppk, Gage R&R/MSA.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Lean principles and process mapping experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead APQP implementation across new products and existing product lines.
• Develop PPAP packages, Control Plans, and FMEA for new and changing products.
• Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
• Monitor, compile, and drive action from first-pass yield, nonconformance, and RMA data with cross-functional teams.
• Support product development and production through design release and change approvals, FMEA design and analysis, and QA planning.
• Interface with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Identify measurement and metrology technologies and evaluate new measurement strategies.
• Conduct internal and external audits and determine corrective actions.
• Lead capability studies (Cpk/Ppk) and Gage R&R/MSA; report findings.
• Train and mentor quality technicians and cross-functional partners on APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and problem-solving methods.
• Apply Lean to guide improvements, including process mapping and flow diagrams.
• Interpret technical documentation and testing specifications; produce clear technical writing.
