Job summary

Chicago Tube & Iron is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen quality systems, support new product launches, and drive continuous improvement across the organization. This on-site role is based in Romeoville, IL.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, purchasing, and suppliers to maintain quality excellence, lead APQP/PPAP activities, and manage internal audits. This role requires hands-on CMM programming and GD&T expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality engineering or related quality position.
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.
• Experience preparing and submitting PPAP documentation to customers.
• Hands-on CMM programming experience (PolyWorks or similar software).
• Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and blueprint interpretation.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
• Experience supporting customer audits, conducting supplier audits, and managing corrective actions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead Quality & Continuous Improvement across CTI locations.
• Own quality for new product launches and APQP activities.
• Develop and maintain quality documentation (Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams).
• Coordinate PPAP submissions and customer approvals (Level 3).
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, purchasing, and suppliers on launches and quality issues.
• Create and maintain CMM inspection programs and GD&T measurement plans.
• Lead supplier and customer audits and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor quality metrics and drive defect reduction and process improvements.
