Job summary

Chicago Tube & Iron in Romeoville, IL is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to strengthen quality systems, support new product launches, and drive continuous improvement across locations. You will work with engineering, operations, suppliers, and customers to maintain quality excellence.

The role emphasizes APQP/PPAP, GD&T, FAI, and CMM programming, with on-site work and opportunities to lead audits and root-cause analyses.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality engineering or related quality position.
Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.
Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting PPAP documentation to customers.
Hands-on CMM programming experience (PolyWorks or similar software).
Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and blueprint interpretation.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
Experience supporting customer audits, conducting supplier audits, and managing corrective actions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Lead quality and continuous improvement efforts across CTI locations.
Own quality for new product launches using APQP.
Develop and maintain quality documentation (PPAP, control plans, PFMEAs).
Coordinate with engineering, operations, purchasing, and suppliers for launches and approvals.
Develop, program, and maintain CMM inspection routines and GD&T applications.
Support customer and supplier audits and implement corrective actions.
