Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Quality Engineering & Assurance team in the US. You will help shape AI-driven testing, build robust automation, and ensure quality across intelligent customer-facing platforms.

You will design and maintain test frameworks, perform API and database testing, and collaborate with product managers to sign off on quality. Relocation to the Dallas/Plano TX, Charlotte/Cary NC, Teaneck NJ, or Miami FL area may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0–1 years of professional experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation scripts using Java and Python.
• Understand STLC and Agile/Scrum environments.
• Interest or experience testing AI-powered applications such as chatbots.
• Experience with Hybrid Automation frameworks.
• Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
• Exposure to performance testing tools like JMeter or Gatling.
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Docker.
• Passion for learning trends in AI and software testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks in Java and Python.
• Perform API testing and validate endpoints using Swagger, Postman, or Rest Assured.
• Execute SQL queries for database testing and ensure data integrity.
• Own quality for features; create test cases and run functional/integration/regression tests.
• Track testing progress using JIRA/ADO/ALM and report defects.
• Contribute to AI/ML testing: chatbots’ intent, flow, responses, edge cases.
• Leverage AI tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate test development.
• Ensure CI/CD and cloud/docker aspects are considered during testing.
