Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to help build the future of testing. You will design and maintain automation for features, APIs, and AI-powered systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product managers, developers, and QA peers, with test coverage across functional, integration, and regression scopes. You will work with modern tools and CI/CD, contribute to chatbot testing, and ensure reliability and fairness in AI models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0 – 1 years of professional experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering role.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation scripts and frameworks using Java and Python.
• Basic understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Agile/Scrum environment.
• Interest or experience testing AI-powered applications such as chatbots or AI/ML systems.
• Experience with Hybrid Automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
• Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks using Java and Python.
• Perform API testing using Swagger, Postman, or Rest Assured.
• Conduct database testing with SQL queries for data validation.
• Own quality for features and components; collaborate on requirements and create test cases.
• Execute full test suites: functional, integration, regression; provide quality sign-off.
• Track testing progress with JIRA, ADO, or ALM; report defects transparently.
• Implement and execute AI/ML test plans; test chatbots for intent & flows.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate test script development and data creation.
• Ensure AI reliability by testing for bias, fairness, and model robustness.
• Maintain test automation scripts and tools; work with CI/CD pipelines.
