Job summary

Exotic Automation & Supply Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to verify parts, program the CMM, and lead AS9102 First Article inspections and PPAP submissions. You will drive root-cause investigations, support MRB processes, and help maintain AS9100/ISO 9001.

The role requires hands-on inspection experience, GD&T proficiency, and collaboration with suppliers to ensure compliant materials and processes across rubber, urethane, and plastic molding as well as machined components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years in Quality Engineering/QA in manufacturing.
• Experience with rubber, urethane, or plastic molding or CNC machining is a plus.
• Ability to read complex drawings with GD&T.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100; aerospace/defense experience preferred.
• Hands-on CMM programming and precision inspection.
• Experience with FAI (AS9102), PPAP, 8D, MRB, MSA, and Gage R&R.
• Calibration program experience; GageTrak is a plus.
• Strong cross-functional problem-solving and supplier communication.

Responsibilities

• Verify and inspect molded rubber, urethane, and plastic parts, machined components, and engineered systems.
• Program and run the CMM to validate critical dimensions.
• Lead First Article Inspections (AS9102) and PPAP submissions for new molds and prototypes.
• Lead 8D and root-cause investigations for molding, machining, and assembly defects.
• Maintain AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications through audits and corrective actions.
• Review supplier qualifications and material certifications for elastomers, resins, and components.
• Manage calibration programs in GageTrak and perform MSA/Gage R&R studies.
• Analyze quality metrics to reduce scrap and improve first-pass yield.
