Job summary

Silgan Specialty Packaging is seeking a dedicated quality professional to lead quality initiatives across manufacturing. The role focuses on APQP/PPAP, supplier quality, and conformance to specifications.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage risk, coordinate verification/validation, and support audits (SQF/ISO), while maintaining documentation and providing technical support.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality APQP/PPAP initiatives with new or changed products for manufacturing quality.
• Resolve quality issues with suppliers. Determine nonconformance, assign responsibility and negotiate returns or rework while preserving Silgan relationships.
• Identify, develop and implement systems and processes that assure product conformance to specifications, including specs, procedures and test methods.
• Lead continuous improvement project teams and execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.
• Coordinate verification and system validation plans from multiple inputs to identify failure modes, manage risk and priorities; evaluate results and document recommendations.
• Lead cross-functional teams to determine root cause and corrective actions for quality defects.
• Involvement in specification, implementation, testing and/or release of product.
• Participate in internal and external quality systems audits as needed.
• Participate in SQF and ISO certifications on-site audits.
• Maintain all quality files and documents.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
• Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies / procedures.
• Maintain production requirements safely and efficiently.
• Contribute toward team goals, influence within the work group and develop proficiency in key competencies.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Report accidents or near misses.
• Adhere to environmental and quality standards.
• Any other tasks to meet the production schedule safely and efficiently.

• Lead quality APQP/PPAP initiatives with new or changed products for manufacturing quality
• Resolve quality issues with suppliers. Determine the nature of the nonconformance, identify responsibility and negotiate a mutually acceptable return or rework of product while preserving the Silgan/Supplier relationship.
• Identify, develop and implement systems and processes that will assure product conformance to specifications, including developing product specifications, procedures and test methods as required.
• Lead continuous improvement project teams and execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.
• Coordinate the development of verification and system validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority; evaluates analytical and experimental test results following engineering principles to verify that products meet internal technical requirements and to validate that solutions meet customer needs; produces recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions.
• Lead cross-functional teams to determine root cause and corrective actions for quality defects.
• Involvement in specification, implementation, testing and/or release of product.
• Participate in internal and external quality systems audits as needed.
• Participate in SQF and ISO certifications on-site audits.
• Maintain all quality files and documents.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, suppliers and customers.
• Support and adhere to all system procedures and company policies / procedures.
• Maintain production requirements safely and efficiently.
