Job summary

All American Racers in Santa Ana, CA is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain quality standards across programs. You will lead audits, supplier surveys, and continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with engineering, manufacturing and program management.

Role requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of manufacturing quality experience; familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems.
  • 3+ years as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and build documentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Mil-Spec and government contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer requirements to communicate quality expectations to responsible departments.
  • Conduct internal and process audits; lead supplier surveys.
  • Provide technical direction and support to inspection activities.
  • Review drawings and work orders; approve documentation.
  • Investigate product discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Document and communicate Quality Plans, test results, and analyses.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (AS9102).
  • Represent QA in customer and supplier communications and certifications.
  • Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with training materials and QA tasks as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards, methods, instructions, and quality planning on assigned programs. The role includes performing supplier surveys, internal audits, and process audits. The Quality Engineer will support engineering, manufacturing, program management, and quality groups, and will be actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives and customer/supplier interactions.

POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES
  • Review customer Purchase Order and Contract requirements to communicate quality requirements to responsible departments.
  • Perform internal and process audits, as assigned.
  • Provide technical direction and support to inspection.
  • Review and approve drawings and product build (work orders) documentation.
  • Review product discrepancies in manufacturing, perform investigations and coordinate with manufacturing and engineering to resolve problems.
  • Document, track and communicate Quality Plans, test results, analysis & unresolved problems.
  • Perform AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports
  • Represent Quality Assurance in day-to-day communication with customers and suppliers, including certifications, data, and corrective actions.
  • Perform supplier surveys, as assigned.
  • Review supplier purchase requisitions and apply appropriate quality requirements.
  • Support assigned Quality Assurance tasks, as required.
  • Support the company’s training program by creating, reviewing, and updating training materials.
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Education and Experience

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Preferred. Or equivalent experience.

Field of Study:

or related field and/or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - Required Safety Glasses

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires an on-site presence. Working conditions are 50% a normal office/lab environment and 50% a manufacturing environment and may be noisy at times. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
