Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Quality Engineer to design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and cost analysis. The role leverages Lean, Six Sigma, 6S and TOC methodologies to solve problems and improve outcomes.

Essential functions include maintaining ISO/AS9100 and NADCAP compliance, developing quality systems with customers and manufacturing, and driving cost

Qualifications

Position Summary

This is will be accomplished by utilizing various manufacturing methodologies including but not limited to Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, 6S, TOC, and problem solving.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and evaluating integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. This is will be accomplished by utilizing various manufacturing methodologies including but not limited to Lean Manufacturing techniques, Six Sigma, 6S, TOC, and problem solving.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain, monitor and develop systems relating to ISO, AS9100, NADCAP and other similar industry standards
  • Develop and maintain Quality systems with the customer and manufacturing to ensure delivery of quality products
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products
  • Direct involvement with advanced NDT development, training and implementation on strategic engine programs
  • Drive cost improvement and productivity initiatives throughout the Quality Assurance and inspection functions
  • Work with engineering and operations to identify root cause for all internal and external non-conformance
  • Responsible for review of customer drawings, specifications, etc. to identify customer quality requirements
  • Prepare inspection instructions for radiographic, fluorescent penetrant, grain etch, visual and dimensional inspection
  • Perform audits to monitor product quality/ISO requirements and support manufacturing/inspection training activities
  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service including customer issues and complaints relating to quality
  • Coordinate production procedures in cooperation with other plants to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Quality investigations as required to identify and eliminate scrap/rework causes and customer issues
  • Interface with customer representative for source inspections and quality issue resolution
  • Maintain Quality Assurance records required by both the company and the customer
  • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs
  • Maintain active role on internal Continuous Improvement teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience & Education
  • Bachelor’s degree with technical competencies preferred.
  • Prefer 3+ years of experience in a quality role and/or a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and Six Sigma desired.
