Job summary

MEKRA Lang is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead problem solving, drive IATF 16949 compliance, and optimize quality, delivery, and cost across assigned customers and locations in Ridgeway, SC. You will act as a professional liaison between MEKRA Lang and customers, lead continuous improvement projects, and ensure metrics are driven to zero-defect goals.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required.

• AIAG Core Tools knowledge and application experience required.
• IATF 16949 certification knowledge required.
• Experience with statistical analysis and Minitab preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
• Strong communication and customer-facing professionalism required.
• Self-directed, proactive initiative and follow-up through closure.
• Ability to balance multiple initiatives and projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and represent MEKRA Lang professionally in customer interactions.
• Drive problem solving and ensure compliance to MEKRA Lang standards and deliverables.

• Lead quality and process improvement projects to optimize quality, cost, delivery and productivity.
• Ensure compliance to IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
• Drive resolution of technical and logistical quality issues.
• Support customer evaluations and on-site audits; close actions.
• Track quality performance indicators and drive improvements.
• Communicate effectively with suppliers, MEKRA Lang, and customers.
• Drive Zero Defect Quality initiatives for current production and new launches.

Quality Engineer

Regular Full-Time Professional Ridgeway, SC, US

• As an ambassador of MEKRA Lang, professionally and positively represent the company in all aspects of customer interactions
• Lead technical problem solving and drive compliance to MEKRA Lang standards and deliverables for assigned customers, products and manufacturing locations
• Act as professional liaison between MEKRA Lang and customers to optimize quality, delivery and cost for assigned parts, products and manufacturing locations
• Lead product and process improvement projects to optimize quality, cost, delivery and productivity for MEKRA Lang
• Ensure compliance to all IATF 16949 requirements and particularly those that are customer specific
• Drive resolution of technical and logistical quality issues
• Ensure MEKRA Lang quality-related deliverables are achieved on time (including APQP and PPAP requirements)
• Support customer evaluations and on-site audits and facilitate action item closure
• Track quality performance indicators and drive improvement as needed per the customer scorecards and internal KPIs
• Lead effective communication (both verbal and written) between suppliers, MEKRA Lang and customers to optimize relationships
• Drive financial analysis and effectively represent MEKRA Lang in the recovery attainment from customer
• Proactively manage sorting activities to optimize quality and minimize cost
• Develop and deploy optimal quality control strategies for assigned customers and products (internal and external)
• Drive a Zero Defect Quality solution set for current production, new launches and next generation products and processes

Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering required
• At least five years of automotive industry manufacturing experience required
• At least three years performing Lean Manufacturing
• AIAG Core tools knowledge and application experience required
• IATF 16949 certification requirements knowledge required
• Experience with statistical analysis and Minitab preferred
• Demonstrated capability with Microsoft Office suite of tools required
• Demonstrated professional comportment suitable for customer executive interface required
• Self-directed, demonstrated proactive initiative and dependable follow-up through closure
• Ability to drive consensus and negotiate in difficult circumstances required
• Ability to balance many initiatives, projects, and communication streams simultaneously required
• Must be able to set, stoop or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
