Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer supports efforts and plans to coordinate the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards for Skilled Manufacturing. A proven hands-on and metrics-driven approach to drive results is a critical success factor.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Provide Quality Control support to production and engineering
- Oversee the quality aspect of Return Material Authorization (RMA)
- Data collection & root cause analysis
- Compliant with all training, quality, compliance, and safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Keeps management aware of any problems or potential problems in the quality of the product
- Enter scrap, rework, rejection, claim, and inspection data
- Use of inspection equipment (CMM, micrometers, calipers, depth gage, height gage, etc.)
- Coordinates in-process and final inspection, dimensions, appearance and proper packaging of parts to assure quality parts at a minimum cost
- Review scrap and repair work to pinpoint problems and recommend corrective action to minimize scrap thereby improving plant profit
- Conducts and evaluates capability studies on both present and new equipment and processes
- Maintains familiarity with Quality Management System requirements and works to maintain IATF16949 andall customer certifications
- Serves as a team member when required and represents the Quality function (on teams such as APQP, Quality Systems audits, new business opportunities, etc.)
- Prepares PPAP and other quality documentation for product launches as well as aid with documentation control
- Conducts and provides direction on Gage R & R studies
- Actively engage with operations for implementation and verification activity on the production linesSupport the risk and failure analysis (PFMEA) reviews and updates, maintain the Control Plan for the assigned workflows
- All other responsibilities assigned by the Manager
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, documents, correspondence, and memos.
- Effective communication skills, which include verbal and written in English
- Ability to perform mathematical functions and statistical analysis.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Must be proficient with blueprint reading, specifically with GD&T
- Must be able to multi-task, have a positive attitude, and handle pressure under deadlines in a professional manner
- Must have excellent attendance and be dependable
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in engineering or manufacturing technology
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering/quality control
- Gage R&R and calibration experience highly preferred
- Automotive manufacturing environment experience is highly preferred
- Familiar with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Moderate physical activity such as walking and lifting is required on a daily basis
- Safety gear, such as approved safety glasses, is required at all times
- The ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis
