Job summary

SIG is seeking a Quality Engineer in Northlake, Illinois to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance systems and processes to ensure product compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

You will lead root cause analyses, manage SPC/SQC, PFMEA and QPCP control plans, and partner with operations to reduce defects, improve yield, and embed quality into manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering (Chemical, Food Production, Mechanical) or 3–5 years of vocational training.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
  • MS Office (Intermediate).
  • Basic knowledge of quality and problem-solving tools.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and food safety standards (BRC, SQF, FDA) desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support leadership in the implementation and maintenance of SES Quality Pillar requirements.
  • Identify trends in quality data with operations to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase yield.
  • Lead root cause analysis of internal and external non-quality occurrences, guiding quality tool usage for analysis and problem solving.
  • Spend time on the manufacturing floor to observe processes, collect data, and perform RCA to eliminate quality issues.
  • Study manufacturing processes and product specs to propose and implement quality-improvement ideas.
  • Develop and maintain Control Plans and PFMEA per SES guidance.
  • Manage changes to global manufacturing and process specs with traceable reviews of QC plans, SOCs, CQPCs and CQPPs.
  • Support qualification of new products, equipment, and raw materials regarding validation of quality systems.
  • Ensure local changes are managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with operations to define and document SOC/ process parameters tied to products/equipment.
  • Develop, implement, and manage SPC and SQC in daily production management.
  • Define and drive improvement projects to tackle defects by quality-related loss deployments.
  • Develop, implement, and manage Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Build partnerships and work collaboratively to meet shared objectives.

Summary Of Role

COMPENSATION: $90k-$100k

LOCATION: Northlake, Illinois

The Quality Engineer supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance systems and processes to ensure product compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role plays a vital part in minimizing defects, improving manufacturing efficiency, and ensuring customer satisfaction by embedding quality into every stage of the packaging production process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support leadership in the implementation and maintenance of the SES Quality Pillar requirements.
  • Identify trends in quality data and collaborate with operations to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase yield.
  • Support the execution of root cause analysis of complex and systematic internal and external non-quality occurrences, acting as a focal point in the guidance and use of quality tools for analysis and problem solving.
  • Spend time on the manufacturing floor to observe manufacturing processes, collect data, and perform Root Cause Analysis to eliminate both internal and external quality issues.
  • Observe, investigate and study our manufacturing processes and product specification to be able to suggest and implement new ideas to improve quality and reduce manufacturing scraps.
  • Assist the development and maintenance of Control Plans and PFMEA, following SES Quality Pillar guidance.
  • Manage changes of global valid manufacturing and Process specifications including a traceable review/update of the Quality Product control plans (QPCP), Standard Operating Conditions (SOC), Critical Quality Product Characteristic (CQPC) as well as Critical Quality Process Parameters (CQPP).
  • Support the qualification process of new products, equipment and raw materials regarding validation of quality systems (specifications, product/process controls).
  • Ensure that local changes (e.g., process changes, countermeasures/ learnings from improvement activities or teams) are managed in an effective and efficient way.
  • Works closely with the operations team to ensure that the required Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) / process parameters linked to the product/equipment are defined and documented.
  • Develop, implement and manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC), ensuring the effective usage of these tools in the daily management of the production.
  • Define and implement improvement teams/ improvement projects to attack defects based on quality related loss deploymemts
  • Develop, implement and manage the Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Build partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
You Bring These Skills, Experience & Education
