Job summary

Carlex in Nashville seeks a quality professional to uphold the quality policy and ensure compliance with IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015. You will lead PPAP documentation development, monitor warranty and PPAP files, and drive continuous improvements with the plant team.

Responsibilities include evaluating audits and inspections, maintaining quality standards, and communicating issues up through the organization. Domestic travel to plants is required as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a technical field or 8+ years of related manufacturing quality experience.
  • IATF Internal Auditor certification required; Lead Auditor preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean, 5S, Total Quality concepts, and Six Sigma.
  • Valid driver’s license for business travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of production documentation (Control Plans, DVP&R, PFMEA, Standardized Work) to PPAP.
  • Monitor warranty data and supplier PPAP files; respond accordingly.
  • Oversee evaluation of process audits and finished product inspections for quality and reliability.
  • Develop internal quality control standards with Corporate Quality and QA Manager.
  • Maintain and communicate quality issues across all levels; build supplier/customer partnerships.
  • Travel to assembly plants as needed to review products and interact with customer personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with FMVSS-205, ECE R43, CCC, and other country regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS• Uphold the Carlex Quality Policy.• Maintain plant compliance with IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards, as well as customer-defined quality systems and requirements.• Lead the development of production documentation, including Control Plans, DVP&R, PFMEA, and Standardized Work, to PPAP requirements.• Monitor customer-supplied warranty data and supplier PPAP files and respond accordingly.• Oversee the evaluation of process audits and finished product inspections for quality and reliability.• In conjunction with Corporate Quality and the Quality Manager, develop internal quality control standards for the plant.• Ensure quality systems and procedures are maintained and effectively utilized by all associates.• Communicate significant quality issues throughout all levels of the company.• Develop and maintain partnership-style relationships with customers and suppliers.• Work closely with plant team members to address day-to-day issues and improve product and process quality.• Occasionally travel to assembly plants to review products and interact with customer personnel.• Maintain knowledge of all government-required testing, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements under FMVSS-205, ECE R43, CCC, and other country regulations.REQUIREMENTSEducation• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or another technical field required; OR• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant manufacturing quality experience required.• IATF Internal Auditor certification required.• IATF Lead Auditor certification preferred.Years of Experience• 3+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with an undergraduate degree.• 8+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment with a high school diploma or equivalent.Other Requirements• Recent training in Core Tools, or willingness to complete training within the first year in the position.• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Total Quality concepts, and Six Sigma.• Strong understanding of IATF and ISO standards and their implementation within automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 manufacturing facilities.• Valid driver’s license required for business travel.• Regular and predictable attendance required.• Off-schedule hours may be required as workload or project demands dictate, including weekends and holidays.KEY COMPETENCIES• Advanced to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.• Hands-on approach to problem-solving and analysis.• Excellent analytical skills.• Ability and willingness to uphold the Carlex values of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Excellence, and Trust.
