Job description

Kavaliro is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems across manufacturing and production operations. This role is responsible for analyzing product and process performance, driving quality initiatives, supporting supplier quality activities, and ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry standards. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical mindset, experience with quality engineering methodologies, and a passion for continuous improvement in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Process Improvement

Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, inspection plans, and process control procedures to ensure products consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Analyze manufacturing processes and quality performance using statistical methods to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.

Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.

Monitor key quality metrics and recommend corrective and preventive actions to improve overall process performance.

Product Quality & Statistical Analysis

Evaluate product quality through statistical analysis, process capability studies, sampling plans, and control chart methodologies.

Design and implement inspection, testing, and validation methods to verify product reliability, accuracy, and compliance.

Perform cost-of-quality analysis and investigate nonconforming materials to determine root cause, financial impact, and corrective actions.

Develop and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs to support ongoing manufacturing excellence.

Supplier Quality & Customer Support

Partner with suppliers to address quality concerns, monitor performance trends, and implement corrective action plans.

Conduct supplier audits and evaluations to verify compliance with quality requirements and identify improvement opportunities.

Collaborate with customers to resolve quality issues while maintaining strong working relationships and ensuring timely communication.

Support internal and external quality audits by preparing documentation, responding to findings, and implementing corrective actions.

Manufacturing & Product Development Support

Participate in cross-functional product development teams to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, and process specifications with a focus on quality and manufacturability.

Assist in developing inspection methods, testing equipment requirements, and quality validation plans for new products and manufacturing processes.

Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities by evaluating nonconforming products and participating in failure investigations and disposition decisions.

Design experiments and validation studies to improve manufacturing processes and product performance.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing production and inspection data.

Develop quality documentation, inspection procedures, work instructions, and training materials.

Maintain accurate records related to inspections, audits, corrective actions, supplier performance, and quality metrics.

Present findings and recommendations to engineering, operations, and leadership teams.

Collaboration & Professional Development

Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams to drive quality improvements across the organization.

Mentor junior team members and share technical expertise to strengthen overall team capabilities.

Stay current with industry best practices, quality standards, and emerging technologies through professional development and continuing education.

Support a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Two or more years of experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar technical role.

Aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing industry experience is preferred.

American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification is preferred but not required.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methodologies, and manufacturing quality standards.

Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action methodologies.

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles.

Understanding of supplier quality management, auditing practices, and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality analysis or statistical software.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently while contributing to cross-functional teams.

Comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and industry standards.
