Job summary

Reliance One, Inc. in Springboro, Ohio is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of parts produced meets customer expectations.

This hands-on role partners with Engineering, Operations, and suppliers to identify root causes, reduce defects, and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing quality, QMS, and continuous improvement, with experience supporting new product launches and customer quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a certified quality management system, such as TS 16949 or ISO.
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing measurement tools and proven experience applying this knowledge to improve existing methodologies.
  • Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
  • Battery, electronics, or powertrain manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working for an organization that supplies large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) preferred.
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and intuitive understanding of mechanical processes.
  • Customer quality assurance experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop, collect, and report leading metrics for internal and supplier performance.
  • Support and drive APQP readiness for new products and deliverables, including MSA, inspection, and testing.
  • Develop and submit PPAP documents as required for new product launches.
  • Lead internal process improvements that minimize production costs and defects.
  • Implement and monitor process capability for continuous improvement.
  • Provide process design input to Manufacturing Engineering to enhance manufacturability and product cost.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional meetings to develop PFMEAs, control plans, process flow diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Provide technical support for failure analysis of discrepant production components, assemblies, and field returns.
  • Apply appropriate statistical techniques to analyze quality and process data.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on material cost reduction, capacity enhancement, and streamlining the supply chain.
  • Read, understand, and verify BOMs, assembly drawings, engineering tolerances, and other technical information.
  • Manage product, process, supplier, and documentation changes and deviations.
  • Define First Article acceptance criteria and ongoing quality requirements in collaboration with the Supplier Quality Engineer.
  • Establish Receiving Inspection criteria with assistance from the Engineering team.
  • Make recommendations to Engineering and Purchasing regarding supplier selection.
  • Coordinate monitoring of pre-launch production trial runs and ensure effective communication and knowledge transfer to Manufacturing and Quality teams.
  • Review and approve manufacturing and quality data and Product Sign Offs.
  • Apply Industrial Engineering concepts and tools to drive safety, accuracy, and productivity within the supply chain and company.
  • Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes, review and analyze results, and recommend changes based on findings.
  • Perform follow-up activities to verify the effectiveness of implemented process improvements.
  • Collaborate with customers to support root-cause analysis, problem solving, defect reduction, issue resolution, and increased customer satisfaction.
  • Facilitate and promote appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
  • Support daily and weekly activities related to managing the facility's quality systems.
  • Provide hands‑on floor support for development processes to ensure timely launch of new projects.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations and all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain predictable and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to ensure the quality of parts produced meets all customer expectations. This role will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Logistics, suppliers, and customers to identify root causes, resolve nonconformances, reduce defects, and drive continuous improvement.


The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will provide hands‑on support in the manufacturing environment and will have the authority to stop the line or shipments when necessary to protect product quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing quality, quality management systems, and continuous improvement, along with experience supporting new product launches and customer quality requirements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop, collect, and report leading metrics for internal and supplier performance to cross-functional management, including quality and scrap

  • Support and drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) readiness for new products and deliverables, including Measurement System Analysis (MSA), inspection, and testing

  • Develop and submit Customer Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) documents as required for new product launches

  • Develop and lead internal process improvements that minimize production costs and defects

  • Implement and monitor process capability for continuous improvement

  • Provide process design input to Manufacturing Engineering to enhance manufacturability and product cost
