Job summary

Louisiana Bridge Builders is seeking a Quality Engineer to coordinate, document, and report quality activities for the Lake Charles project. The role ensures inspection/testing documentation, ITP maintenance, and adherence to specifications.

The candidate will verify hold points, support subcontractor quality, and compile comprehensive quality reports while advancing digital quality records and daily contractor performance tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 3+ years of quality experience or a high school diploma with 7+ years of quality experience
  • Experience with Design-Build projects and/or construction industry preferred
  • Must possess a current and valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and report quality activities for the project
  • Maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for construction activities
  • Ensure hold points and acceptance criteria are followed per specifications
  • Perform routine field inspections to verify conformance with drawings and work plans
  • Assist in ensuring quality requirements are implemented by subcontractors
  • Prepare reports detailing quality performance and corrective actions
  • Contribute to digitizing quality records
  • Monitor daily contractor activity progress and performance
  • Provide information to improve procedures, Work Plans, and QC efforts
  • Conduct off-site quality inspections as needed
  • Analyze corrective and preventive actions and track quality incidents
  • Report quality issues and track deficiencies/non-conformances

Quality Engineer

Full Time Professional Lake Charles, LA, US

Louisiana Bridge Builders ("LBB") is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

Position Purpose/Summary

The Quality Engineer is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by coordinating, documenting, and reporting quality activities for the Project.

Location

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure all inspection and testing documentation is accurately completed and filed.
  • Monitor and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for construction activities.
  • Verify that required hold points, witness points, and acceptance criteria are followed in accordance with specifications.
  • Perform routine field inspections to verify construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and work plans.
  • Assist in ensuring that quality requirements are implemented by subcontractors.
  • Compile comprehensive reports detailing quality performance, highlighting trends, and suggesting corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Collaborate in the digitalization of quality records.
  • Monitor, verify and generate daily reports on the progress and performance of contractor activities.
  • Maintaining an active role in providing relevant information to continually improve procedures, Work Plans, and QC efforts.
  • Performing the off-site quality inspections at the Owners/suppliers/manufacturer’s yard/shop as needed.
  • Participating in the analysis of corrective and preventive actions and, in general, identifying and recording any incidents related to the Quality Plans and Quality Procedures.
  • Reporting quality issues associated with the construction and track deficiencies/non-conformances.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

At a minimum, the Quality Engineer must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study along with 3+ years of related quality experience or high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 7+ years of related quality experience. Experience working with Design-Build projects and/or the construction industry is preferred. Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.

Knowledge and experience in the implementation of the ISO 9001 standard on Quality Management System is required. Experience in implementing quality management and quality control digital tools will be valued.
