Insight Global is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to work onsite in La Vergne, Tennessee. This role is with a global Fortune 500 technology manufacturing and design company that develops cloud computing technologies for major search engines, online retailers, and social media companies, operating within the computer and electronics manufacturing industry. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) coordinates quality planning, monitoring, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities to ensure products, processes, and services meet customer and company standards.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the Quality Assurance representative on the New Product Introduction (NPI) team for all new products.
- Ensure all required Quality Assurance items are included in the Master Timing Plan, fully implemented, and validated before program launch.
- Submit First Article Inspection (FAI) documents to the customer for approval.
- Develop and maintain process and quality documents such as Process Flow Charts, PFMEAs, Inspection Standards, Work Instructions, Packaging Standards, and Visual Standards.
- Review Lessons Learned data from similar products and processes to prevent repeat issues.
- Prepare training materials and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, or formulas to determine quality and reliability standards, consulting with management or engineering staff.
- Assist testing groups in developing standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Provide direction to Quality Assurance Inspectors conducting audits of work-in-process and finished goods for compliance.
- Assist in the disposition of materials failed during testing, working with Supplier Quality Engineers and vendors for Failure Analysis results.
- Lead cross-functional teams for corrective actions, including root cause analysis and countermeasures, using methodologies like 8D, 5-Why, or Fishbone diagrams. Respond to customer inquiries within specified timeframes and visit customer facilities as needed.
- Act as a continuous improvement leader for assigned product and process lines, including kaizen events, Six Sigma projects, and employee suggestion evaluations.
- Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to optimize quality within process capabilities.
- Support plant ISO 9001 activities, including internal audits, calibration, and document control. Draft Process Flows, Procedures, Work Instructions, and Forms as necessary.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, Science, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing.
- Experience with third-party quality system certifications, e.g., ISO 9001.
- Certified as an ISO 9001 internal auditor.
